3 new 3D prints: part 1/4: The mysterious case of the lost original Sylvaninan Families Town Series store

Part of prepairing to move in a few years, was to restrain myself from printing the bigger projects I have planned.  But, as I was printing some practical items for our future home, and some items for my husband, plus some stuff to stage this house once it needs to be sold, it dawned on me that I had some colors of filament leftover which were not used in JollyOaksVille Town and would fit right in with the soft color scheme, just enough to create 3 stores. 

Not just the colors that I lacked interested me, but a few ideas that fit totally with the theme Epoch didn't create. And, I fancied some extra wall textures they didn't use either.

As there is always a small risk of PLA filament becoming too brittle after a few years, even though I store it with desicant packs, I figured it was better to use them now instead of tagging the extra weight of the rolls along and risking throwing it away anyway by then. Extra weight as in the rolls themselves and about 1/3 - 1/4 of all filament is used as printing support material. Once printed, PLA never becomes brittle, as the heating process fixes that issue.

I absolutely adore them! Next blog will show the first of the 3 buildings I now added. 

I was looking for inspiration on the original Town Series, as my brain seemed to recall that not all of it was ever put into production. I was right: I spotted a 3-arched store they never produced. See for yourself:



The arches have no detail, it just might have been a "filler" for the pics' background, or a non fully developped design, or even discarded idea. My brain got all fired up to use that as an inspiration. And the corner tower inspired me even more! Keep your eyes peeled for the next 3 blogs!

New 3D printer!

I am in no way sponsored for any reviews. This is just my personal experience. My first 2 brands of 3D printers failed because of power failures in our village. Should not have happened, as printers are made to deal with those. Both Elegoo and Creality had an non-existing helpdesk and glad that Amazon refunded me. I was fed up and decided to buy an expensive printer which was extremely popular in print farms. In the 2 years that I had it, their helpdesk does exist, but was really usless to fix issues. They shipped parts to replace, then had the printed shipped back, and didn't fix it properly. It only printed so-so. I contacted their helpdesk again when all printing failed again and was actually THREATENED by email!!   At that point, it was clear that I would never buy a Prusa ever again.  I found out recently that I am not the only one who they did that to!! Town Hall

I always study the "maps" which can be found on Sylvanian boxes, as they indicate ideas of possible future releases. On one map of a few years ago, I saw a large building, which sortoff made me wonder if that was meant as a Town Hall. In contrary to the usual pale buildings, this one was again more like the 80ties style in darker wooden colors. I liked the entire concept. Anyway, my hopes for it to become released have dwindled over the years. I created a help center, but it was too small for what needed to go inside, I wanted to move them into a decent sized building. Now that I have a fast new 3D printer, I figured that it was time to create one of my own and I wanted to keep the concept a bit of what I saw on the Sylvanian map.  Here's the front.
